3001-Spoonbill Spectacle

from $59.00

Photographed at Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel, “Spoonbill Spectacular” represents the greatest number of “Rosies” that I’ve ever seen in one place. It was early, just a few minutes after sunrise, and the flock hadn’t yet fished for breakfast when I arrived. The light was wonderful, and the reflections were perfect. This image won an award from the National Association of Nature Photographers and was featured in an Environmental Protection Agency report on the state of our country’s estuaries.

Room setting: A 60x40 aluminum print fits behind a large three-cushion sofa on a high ceiling.

See also 222-”Splish, Splash, Spoonbill Bath!” to see what happened a minute after I made this photo!
