4112-Magical Light
Summers bring miraculous sunsets to Florida skies. When I first posted this image to social media, the most common comment was, “That light is just magical!” so it seemed like the most appropriate title. This reddish-orange light was caused by sunset rays reflecting from cumulus clouds in the west, abetted by some Saharan Desert dust that made its way to the Florida coast. The dust particles scatter the light, causing more reddish (long-wavelength) light than usual. Bunche Beach, S. Fort Myers, FL in August 2025.
